Border formalities
To stay in Costa Rica less than 90 days a visa is not required. Travelers must be in possession of passport valid for at least 6 months after return to Europe. The departure tax is $ 29 payed cash.

The capital of Costa Rica is San José.
 
Climate/ Weather
The climate in Costa Rica is year round warm and humid with an average temperature between 20 and 30 degrees. Costa Rica has a tropical climate. In the wetter months (April to December) it rains in Costa Rica. usually not all day, but earlier in the morning or the afternoon. Many travelers go precisely in the wet season in Costa Rica; nature is in bloom and is deep green. The Caribbean coast has, due to the trade winds and the sea influences, a different climate; less rains and more sun. At higher places like the Monteverde cloud forest, the climate is all year round cooler and moister.
 
Elektricity
The voltage in Costa Rica is 110 volts. A USA adapter with two flat pins is required and the device must be able to switch from 220 to 110 volts.
 
Flora and fauna
In Costa Rica there national parks and reserves ( 25 % of the land is protected and national park. ). Much of it consists of tropical rainforest. The highest point is the Cerro Chirripó (3810m ) in the Cordillera de Talamanca. Costa Rica has several volcanoes: the Arenal , Rincon de la Vieja and Turrialba area stil ctive. The fauna is very rich in Costa Rica. In total, live in Costa Rica thousands of species of invertebrates, approximately 150 species of amphibians, reptiles about 215 species, around 865 species of birds, 75 species of birds of prey and more than 240 species of mammals. Costa Rica has profiled itself historically as a paradise in the field of ecotourism. Costa Rica has the greatest biodiversity in the world. In Costa Rica tehre are about 500,000 animals and plant species while the country covers only 0.03 % of the world's surface .
 
General
The Republic of Costa Rica is a country in Central America that is bordered to the north by Nicaragua and to the south by Panama In the west and east it is bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Costa Rica literally means Rich Coast. Pura vida! is the term used by Costa Ricans as something is totally awesome. For lovers of a tropical climate, eco-tourism, outdoor recreation and wildlife, Costa Rica is also quite pura vida! Costa Rica is more durable, more prosperous and safer than surrounding states.
 
Government
Costa Rica is a democratic republic, the head is a president who will be elected for four years. In 1949 the democratic government abolished the army and since then there are no conflicts in Costa Rica.
 
Health
For Costa Rica DTP and hepatitis A vaccinations are recommended, inquire well before leaving for the latest information regarding vaccinations. Drink only water from a sealed bottle or drink boiled water as tea or coffee. Health care in Costa Rica is at a high level. In the private clinics in the country the service is fast and really well.
 
Language
The official language in Costa Rica is Spanish. In the tourist areas, you can also go well with English.
 
Money
The currency of Costa Rica is the Colón, named after Columbus. There are notes of 10,000, 5,000, 1,000 and coins. Indication Currency: 1 euro = 721 colones (June 2011). The U.S. $ is accepted everywhere. The most commonly used credit cards are Visa and Mastercard. Note: After 22:00 pm, you can not withdraw money in connection with safety.
 
Osa Peninsula
The Osa Peninsula in the southwest of Costa Rica is known as a very rich ecosystem, more than half of all species in the country you can find here. This is partly due to the many types of vegetation, and the remote location of the peninsula. The crown jewel of Osa is Corcovado National Park.
